KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Sept – Brazil will lead by example, as the world struggles to secure a stable climate for planet earth.
Brazilian ambassador Ary Norton De Murat Quintella said that his country was willing to work together with others in the world, especially those that also had tropical rainforests and faced the same challenges.
“With Malaysia, we can deepen our exchange of experiences concerning rainforest protection and sustainable management.
“We can also strengthen our collaboration in international forums.
“As President (Luiz Inacio) Lula (da Silva) mentioned at the Amazon Summit, which also took place in Belem a few weeks ago, this may be our last chance to secure a stable climate for planet earth,” De Murat Quintella said at the 201st Brazil Independence Day at the JW Marriott Hotel in Jalan Bukit Bintang.
Present were Economy Minister Mohd Rafizi Ramli, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul and Melaka governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.
De Murat Quintella recapped on how Brazil would host the United Nations Conference of Parties on climate change (COP30) at the Amazonian city in Belem do Para in 2025.

“This September 7 marked the celebration of the first cycle of a new government in Brazil, one that is reconciling economic growth with social inclusion.
“On President Lula’s own words, Brazil is back and moving forward. While reconciling the nation, Brazil is prioritising health, education, science and technology, culture and the environment.
“It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge that Malaysia too is walking the same path, under the leadership of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who has also emphasised robust social policies and empowering the “rakyat”.
“Brazil and Malaysia enjoy a fruitful and close political relationship, but I dare say that conditions were never as good as they are today for our countries to develop closer relations,” De Murat Quintella said.
On his country’s Independence Day celebrations, De Murat Quintella said the landmarks were used to pause and reflect on the past, the present and the future.
“I feel happy to realise that so much positive things happened throughout the last 12 months in the bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Brazil,” he said.
Brazil is the biggest exporter of beef and poultry meat in the world, including halal meat.
Brazil is also Malaysia’s largest Latin American trading partner, accounting for US$6.4 billion in 2021, with Petronas a trusted partner and investor in the promising Brazilian oil and gas field for many years. – airtimes.my
